A new academic year brings new goals, new challenges and a shared vision of everything that lies ahead.
During the first weeks of the academic year, British School Alzira, Xàtiva & Gandia held its Objectives Meetings, welcoming families to learn more about the key priorities for the year ahead, what their children will be learning and how families and the school can work together throughout the academic journey.
Because we believe that education is a journey we build together.
Sharing our objectives from the beginning
Understanding what students will learn, the objectives for each educational stage and how the academic year will develop enables families to support their children more effectively throughout their education.
For this reason, the Objectives Meetings provide an opportunity to share the school's academic priorities, curriculum content, objectives for each stage and assessment processes.
The meetings also cover important aspects of school life, including educational platforms and communication channels between families and the school.
This gives families a clear understanding of what their children will be learning, what is expected of them and how they can support them throughout the academic year.
Meetings adapted to each educational stage
The organisation of the meetings reflects the specific needs of each stage of education.
In EYFS & Primary, families take part in class-based meetings organised for each year group. These sessions provide an opportunity to learn more about the objectives and content that will be covered during the year, as well as the routines and organisation of each class.
In Secondary, families attend a general session led by our Director General, Franc Corbí, together with the Heads of the different stages and other members of the educational team. The meeting covers the main priorities and academic objectives for the new academic year, as well as assessment, the British curriculum, communication and key aspects of school life.
For Year 7 families, an additional session is held to introduce them to the use of the school's iPad, an important learning tool at this stage.
In every case, the meetings bring together school leaders, Heads of Stage and tutors, creating an opportunity for families to learn first-hand about the work and learning that will take place throughout the academic year.
The British curriculum as a framework for learning
The meetings also give families the opportunity to gain a better understanding of how learning is structured within the British curriculum and how educational objectives are established at each stage.
Sharing this information from the beginning of the academic year helps families and the school develop a common understanding of the educational journey and work towards the same goals.
Academic objectives are not simply about the knowledge students acquire. They are part of a broader process through which students also develop independence, responsibility, confidence and the skills they need to become successful lifelong learners.
Communication and partnership with families
Communication between the school and families is a fundamental part of our educational community.
The Objectives Meetings provide a valuable opportunity to share information, listen, answer questions and exchange ideas, helping to build open and effective communication throughout the academic year.
But building a community also means spending time together beyond the classroom.
Families were therefore invited to enjoy horchata and fartons together, creating a more informal opportunity to meet, chat and strengthen connections within our school community.
These moments remind us that an educational community is built not only in the classroom.
Three Schools, one shared vision
Although the meetings are adapted to each educational stage and take place across our three schools, they all share the same purpose: to work together with families to provide our students with a coherent, challenging and enriching educational experience.
Across Alzira, Xàtiva and Gandia, we are beginning a new academic year with shared goals and a community ready to support every student along their journey.
Because when school and families share information, expectations and objectives, we can work together to bring out the best in every student.
Three Schools. One team. One family.
