Our Year 9 pupils attended an “Affective-Sexual Education” workshop at the school, conducted by the Nursing Department in collaboration with the school’s Department of Psychology.
The aim of the workshop was to inform the pupils about the stage of human development they are currently experiencing, where their bodies mature reproductively, which brings about certain doubts, sensations, and experiences.
Various topics were covered in the workshop, including the anatomy and physiology of their reproductive organs, the menstrual cycle and painful menstruation, sexuality, healthy sexual relationships, pleasure, contraceptive methods, and sexually transmitted diseases.
The school’s Psychopedagogical Office considers it essential to adequately inform pupils at this age, during this stage of change and exploration, where young people are particularly vulnerable to risk, necessitating a safe sexual education.
