We conducted fieldwork in the Oliva dunes for Year 13 Geography students. The fieldwork aimed to consolidate the learning being undertaken through coastal studies and included investigations into: vegetation succession, dune development and management, changes in soil characteristics and coastal processes such as beach grading and drift. Each student led a fieldwork technique and took responsibility for collecting reliable data.
This practical work is an important aspect of the A-Level Geography course and helps students’ understanding.
