Health Promotion Workshops: “First Aid” and “Accident Prevention”

This month, the Health Promotion Workshops organised by the Department of Educational Psychology in collaboration with the School Nursing Service commenced.

Our Year 3 students enjoyed an “Accident Prevention Workshop“, where they learned how to prevent and respond to accidents. Topics covered included dialing 112, the recovery position, and procedures for dealing with choking and other emergency situations.

Our Year 12 students participated in an “Advanced First Aid Workshop”, which consisted of both theoretical and practical training. They learned how to identify different types of accidents, the chain of survival, the recovery position, adult and child CPR techniques, the use of a defibrillator, and how to deal with choking incidents.

Additionally, several First Aid and Epilepsy Workshops were held for the most susceptible groups to ensure that, beyond addressing basic first aid concepts, students would become familiar with the basic protocol for responding to an epileptic seizure.
