Question 1

How does the British school system work in Spain?

Accepted Answer

Students follow the British curriculum in English, progressing through Early Years, Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form. They sit IGCSEs at the end of Secondary and A Levels in Sixth Form — official British qualifications that give direct access to universities in Spain, Europe and worldwide. The schools also teach Spanish Language and Culture so students are fully integrated in both systems.

Question 2

Will my child study in English?

Accepted Answer

Yes. English is the main language of instruction, used naturally throughout the school day from the early years. Spanish and Valencian are incorporated progressively, so children develop balanced bilingual skills — helpful for families relocating to Valencia from abroad.

Question 3

Can we apply from abroad?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Families relocating to Valencia can start the admissions process before arriving in Spain. Our admissions team explains the educational project, year-group placement and facilities, and can arrange a visit — by phone (+34 962 589 368) or through the website contact form.

Question 4

How is a British school different from the Spanish education system?

Accepted Answer

The British system is built on hands-on learning, motivation and the development of personal skills. Instead of memorising, students learn to think critically and creatively. In addition, all subjects are taught in English, and students gain international qualifications recognised by universities all over the world.

Question 5

Why choose a British school in Valencia?

Accepted Answer

Choosing a British school in Valencia gives access to a high-quality international education in a safe, well-connected setting with an excellent quality of life. Valencia combines educational tradition, international outlook and an ideal environment for families, which makes the area's British schools a very attractive option for those seeking solid academic grounding, genuine bilingualism and a clear route to university.

Question 6

What are the advantages of studying at a British school in Spain compared with other education systems?

Accepted Answer

Studying at a British school in Spain means an education based on the British Curriculum, internationally recognised for its practical approach, its development of critical thinking and its progressive academic preparation. Unlike other systems, it fosters student independence, learning in English from an early age and continuous assessment that goes beyond rote examinations, all combined with adaptation to the Spanish educational context.

Question 7

What is the difference between a British school and an international school?

Accepted Answer

A British school follows the official British curriculum specifically, with the programmes, assessments and qualifications of the United Kingdom's education system. An international school, by contrast, may combine different curricula or methodologies. The main difference is that a British school offers a clear, structured and officially recognised academic route, geared towards continuity at national and international universities.

Question 8

Are lessons at British schools in Valencia taught in English, or are they bilingual (English and Spanish)?

Accepted Answer

Lessons are taught entirely in English, following the British curriculum. Students also receive Spanish Language and Culture lessons to guarantee full command of both languages and to make integration easier in both international and national settings.

Question 9

From what age can a child start at a British School, and in which language are lessons taught?

Accepted Answer

Children can start at a British School from early years education, normally from the age of 2 or 3. English is the main language of instruction, used naturally throughout the school day, while Spanish and other languages are introduced progressively to ensure balanced language development suited to the child's age.

Question 10

What qualification do students obtain when they complete their studies at the British School?

Accepted Answer

At the end of Secondary, students obtain the Spanish Secondary Education Certificate (Graduado en Educacion Secundaria Obligatoria) by sitting the IGCSE examinations. During the two years of Sixth Form, students sit the A-Level examinations, the official British qualification that gives direct access to universities in Spain, Europe and anywhere in the world. The school also offers personalised guidance for choosing a university.

Question 11

Can students from a British school go on to Spanish and European universities?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Students who complete their studies at a British school can go on to Spanish universities as well as European and international ones. Thanks to the British qualifications (IGCSEs and A-Levels) and the established recognition and admission processes, students are prepared to continue their higher education across different university systems with full academic guarantees.

Question 12

How can I arrange a visit or attend an open day at the British School?

Accepted Answer

You can arrange your visit or join one of our open days by contacting the school through the website contact form or by telephone (+34 96 258 93 68). Our admissions team will explain the educational project and the facilities, and answer any questions you may have.

Question 13
