Our Year 5 pupils have attended a workshop this week with the National Police to discuss the main dangers they face on the Internet.
As a summary of the workshop, we have some advice for our young internet users:
- Never give your name, don’t say where you live or what your parents’ names are, don’t send photographs of yourself or your family.
- If someone says something uncomfortable or upsetting to you, tell your parents quickly.
- Do not take compromising photographs or share them, under any circumstances. If you feel pressured to do so, you should report it.
- Never meet anyone you have met on the Internet without your parents’ knowledge and permission.
- Do not download any program or screensaver without your parents’ knowledge, even if the page says it is free.
- Do not download logos or mobile phone ringtones, even if they appear to be free. Check with your parents first.
- Do not download films or music. They can damage your computer through these sites.
- Be very careful to respect the minimum ages for downloading applications.
