Summer School British School Alzira

1) ACTIVITIES DESCRIPTION

Each year, BRITISH SCHOOL ALZIRA’s educational activity development team designs a new program for the “SUMMER SCHOOL” course, aiming to provide enjoyable and innovative learning experiences for children aged 0 to 16 years old.

The 2024 Summer School will continue to offer a unique program with workshops and activities to make our students’ days unforgettable.

The Summer School is a 4-week course that starts on June 27th and ends on July 24th. The timetable is from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Summer School Alzira activities and workshops

The daily Summer School program includes:

  • 3 hours of English lessons with native or expert teachers in the British curriculum, aiming to enhance language usage to improve oral and written fluency (speaking & listening). All our teachers are trained in our exclusive language immersion methodology that helps students to learn through practice and play.
  • 1 hour in the swimming pool. Each day our students enjoy a 1-hour SWIMMING lesson, where they learn a range of different techniques that vary each week (rescue, styles, water sports, aqua gym).
    • At BSA, we have 3 outdoor pools, each used depending on the age of the students.
    • Lessons are delivered by swimming and lifesaving specialists.
    • Our students are also supervised by a team of class assistants during water activities.
  • 2 hours per day of workshops, sports, and educational innovation (sports, robotics…)

The 2024 Summer School will feature sports and practical, skill-based learning as the main focus of lesson content. Students enjoy a wide range of specific workshops designed for each age group with the aim of providing a variety of experiences to enjoy.

“THE FAR EAST” is the theme chosen for the 2024 Summer School activities. Different workshops have been prepared according to age for students to participate in throughout the summer course:

Students will work on shodo or Japanese calligraphy in the “JAPANESE WRITING” workshop. Concentration is key to developing the art of writing characters typical of Japan.

In our “TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION SPACE”, this year we will introduce iMovie through iPads and provide basic video editing notions, including elements of anime/manga and learning to make final presentation touches.

A significant portion of the timetable is dedicated to creativity development with workshops such as “ART”, where students will work on different artistic techniques for making oriental masks, Japanese writing, oriental landscape creation… They will engage in competitions with our “ORIENTAL BOARD GAMES” (collaborative oriental board games), such as Tangram – Mahjong – Hanafuda – Shogi…, work with music in our “MUSIC” workshop, and learn while having fun in our “FUN SCIENCE CLUB” and “ROBOTICS WORKSHOP”.

They will especially enjoy the “ADVENTURE TIME” activity that involves climbing, zip line, archery, and balancing on the Hood Bridge (all these activities are led by a qualified mountaineering and multisport teaching team with all the preventive and safety measures needed to ensure an unforgettable experience).

SPORTS: The school sports facilities will allow us to continue to practice the SPORTS that students have most enjoyed during the last Summer School courses: volleyball, football, table tennis, and sports competitions, where besides practicing the activity, they will learn its history and technique. In the specific “TAEKWONDO” workshop, different groups will work on games and physical skill exercises introducing this Korean martial art.

Our youngest students will be fascinated by “STORYTELLING” and “GAMES & GIGGLES” workshops, where they will enjoy traditional games.
