Theatre for Year 11 students – “La casa de Bernarda Alba”

Today our Year 11 students from BSA and BSX have attended the performance of the play “La casa de Bernarda Alba” which took place in Valencia.

“La casa de Bernarda Alba” is a play in three acts written in 1936 by Federico García Lorca. It is Lorca’s last and perhaps his most important work, and it is a mixture of tradition and the avant-garde. It is a social drama that portrays the traditional values of the rural bourgeoisie, as well as the social injustice of Andalusia in the 1930s.

Attending this performance has given them a greater understanding of the play in question, which is sure to be of use to them, as the play forms part of the Year 11 curriculum.
