“First Aid” Workshop for Year 7 students

On Thursday 25th January, the School Nursing Department gave a “First Aid” workshop to Year 7 pupils.

First Aid refers to those basic and immediate first aid procedures and techniques that anyone, without the need to be a medical professional, would apply to a victim of an accident or sudden illness.

We started with the basics, as in future courses the students will receive more advanced training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillator.

The workshop covered topics such as wound cleansing, haemorrhage control, burns, trauma, bandaging and choking, knowledge which we hope they will not have to put into practice but which, when the time comes, may be of vital importance.
