Meet our Special Educational Needs department!
At British School Alzira, Xàtiva & Gandia, we firmly believe that each student is unique, with different talents, paces and needs. For this reason, we have reinforced our commitment to inclusion and personalized attention by creating the position of SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), a fundamental role within the British educational system.
This position, held by the specialist Beatriz Pabón, leads the SEN (Special Educational Needs) Department in our schools, ensuring that each student receives the necessary support to reach his or her maximum potential.

What is a SENCO and what is its function?
The SENCO is a qualified professional who coordinates the care of students with special educational or specific learning needs, ensuring their full inclusion in school life.
Its main functions include:
- Detect and evaluate the individual needs of students.
- Design and coordinate individualized Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each case.
- Advise and accompany teachers to apply inclusive strategies in the classroom.
- Maintain direct communication with families, guaranteeing a joint work between school and home.
- Collaborate with the Psychopedagogical Department and other external specialists when additional support is required.
- Monitor compliance with the British curriculum standards for inclusion and attention to diversity.
The creation of this departmentreinforces our vision of an education where every student matters. In our schools, diversity is not only respected: it is valued as a source of learning and collective growth.

How does the SEN service work in our schools?
The SEN Service is integrated into the daily academic life of our schools and acts in coordination with all educational teams.
Its operation is based on three pillars:
In this way, the SEN Department not only ensures that each student receives the attention he or she needs, but also fosters autonomy, self-esteem and active participation in school life.
The SEN team works in coordination with the teaching staff and specialists from the Psychopedagogical Department to offer comprehensive care that combines emotional well-being, cognitive development and academic support.
Thus, the British School Alzira, Xàtiva & Gandia is moving towards an educational model that is increasingly inclusive, sensitive and adapted to the real needs of its students.
