Yesterday, BSA Year 10 GEOGRAPHY students went to the Clariano River in Ontinyent and Aielo de Malferit to carry out fieldwork. Our objectives for the students were to examine the changes at the ‘gauging station’ as well as the changes in flow along the river. At the two sites we will also investigate bedload sorting and estimate channel capacity. Later in school, they will use the data collected to test a number of hypotheses and use statistical tests to give a level of confidence to their conclusions.
We see this as a great way for pupils to learn and put their knowledge into practice.
