Workshop on Physical Changes in Year 6: Education, Support and Prevention

Last Tuesday, our Year 6 pupils took part in a workshop focused on the physical changes that occur during puberty—an essential stage in human development.

Entitled “Physical Changes: Menarche & Spermarche”, the workshop aimed to provide clear, age-appropriate, and respectful information about this period of reproductive maturation, during which new experiences, questions, and feelings naturally arise.

The activity was divided into two separate sessions, one for girls and one for boys, and addressed topics such as the anatomy and physiology of the reproductive organs, the menstrual cycle, and the beginning of fertility, among other relevant content.

The Nursing Team and the School’s Psychopedagogical Department worked together to ensure the workshop was a safe, approachable, and enriching space, where our pupils could ask questions and feel supported throughout this important stage of growth.

At British School Alzira, Xàtiva & Gandia, we believe it is essential to support our students through this time of change, offering them appropriate and safe sex education that helps them better understand their own bodies and face this stage with knowledge, confidence, and respect.
