As part of the current Geography Topic Project, our students are studying the types of activities that take place within an urban environment, and for this reason, we have organised a live fieldwork activity for them.
The Year 7 pupils from BSA, BSX, and BSG conducted fieldwork in the centres of Alzira, Xàtiva, and Gandia respectively, which included the following tasks:
- Walking through a commercial district or market area, where the students worked in small groups.
- Identifying various types of shops, stores, and services, recording their observations on their iPads.
- Conducting a pedestrian and traffic count within a designated area over a specific period.
Subsequently, they continued their work with classroom tasks: writing a brief report in which they summarised their main learnings from the excursion, creating a presentation on a specific aspect of urban economic activity, and integrating their field trip observations into class discussions and projects related to economics or urban studies.
A great experience for our youngest Secondary students!
