A hands-on experience for Year 12 Geography students

A group of Year 12 students taking A-Level Geography took part in an enriching fieldwork day at Tavernes Beach – a location chosen for its proximity to the school and the wide range of geographical features it offers for study.

This field trip is a key component of the A-Level Geography course, aiming to consolidate classroom learning through direct observation and practical application in a coastal environment.

During the activity, students carried out investigations on topics such as vegetation succession, dune development and management, changes in soil characteristics, and coastal processes including beach sorting and longshore drift.

Each student was responsible for leading a specific fieldwork technique and ensuring the collection of reliable data, helping them develop essential skills in analysis, observation, and scientific methodology.

These kinds of activities provide an excellent opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of the processes studied in class while building practical competencies that are fundamental to their academic journey.
