‘First Aid’ Workshop for Year 7 & Year 9 students

This month the School Nursing Department conducted First Aid workshops for students in Year 7 and Year 9.

“First Aid” refers to the initial basic and immediate procedures and techniques that any person, regardless of whether they are a medical professional, would apply to a victim of an accident or sudden illness.

Year 7 students learned about wound cleaning, hemorrhage control, burns, traumas, bandaging, and how to respond to choking incidents.

Year 9 students received theoretical and practical training where they learned to identify different types of accidents, the survival chain, the correct use of the emergency number 112, the recovery position, and CPR techniques.
