The President (Adrian Massam) and National Vice President of NABSS (Franc Corbí), preside over the opening ceremony of the Congress of British Schools together with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom, Hugh Elliot, and the Secretary of State for Education, Alejandro Tiana, where they announce their willingness to sign the Spain-United Kingdom bilateral agreement for access to the University.
This measure was very well received by the representatives of British Schools in Spain, since it guarantees stability for the students of our centers. At this time, access to the Spanish University was achieved after the agreement with the Minister of Education, Pilar Alegría and Franc Corbí, on September 30, 2021, in which there was a university extension of the direct access law for two courses.
With this bilateral communication from both representatives of Spain and England, the way is opened for the signing of the long-awaited agreement in the coming months.
In addition to the direct access route, the homologation route for access to the University will continue to be in force, which, with the application of the new Education Law in Spain, will be done with a homogeneous criterion throughout the Spanish territory and with conditions that The Ministry will publish it next June for its application from 2024, according to the Secretary of State.
“This act of commitment between the representatives of both countries is the first firm step of the bilateral agreement that guarantees access to university for students of the British system. In the speech of both they have publicly expressed their total willingness to reach an agreement as soon as possible and we are very happy about it”, said Franc Corbí at the end of the event.
