Galician Gourmet Day

Continuing our monthly culinary journey, this month we explored the rich traditions of Galician cuisine.

Galician cuisine dates back to the Roman era, with dishes from this long standing culinary tradition arriving at our tables nearly unchanged. It is known for its simplicity and the exceptional quality of its ingredients.

Seafood is central to Galician cuisine, with an emphasis on delicacies such as octopus, scallops, and gooseneck barnacles, reflecting the strong influence of the fishing industry. Galician beef, famed for its flavour and quality, is also a staple, with “lacón” being one of the star products.

This time, we enjoyed:

  • Rice stew with turnip greens and mussels
  • Smoked pork with boiled potatoes
  • Traditional Galician “bica” spongecake
