In Year 1, the pupils have been studying the topic “First Flights”, and therefore had an exciting day dedicated to this topic.
The students enjoyed the following activities amongst others related to “First Flights”:
- Literacy/Geography: they looked at route maps of early adventurers.
- Art/DT: they made rockets and planes from recycled materials.
- Science: used their scientific knowledge to make DIY parachutes and explained how they worked.
- Maths: used their measuring skills to race aeroplanes.
- Teamwork: they worked together to build a big class aeroplane.
Pupils could come dressed up as explorers/pilots or bring in props related to this theme, and… they had a great time feeling adventurous for a day!
